A Pink Sunrise, Palm Trees And Golden Sand by Allen Finney

“After Skanstull, the Tunnelbana is not in a tunnel anymore. One early summer morning, around 06.30, I was coming home from somewhere, and between Gullmarsplan and Skärmarbrink, the sunrise sky was all pink. I got out paper and pencil and wrote it down and sent it to Sven. He put some soul ballad music to it. I changed the last verse a bit later (just a little). He recorded it (Sven Zetterberg on his “Let Me Get Over It” album) and I was thrilled.” (Allen Finney, 2018)

A pink sunrise, palm trees and golden sand
My gal has hopped a plane, waved goodbye again
I got winter snow, ice and sleet and howling wind
And a postcard with a pink sunrise, palm trees and golden sand

For once in my life I thought it might never end
We were sweerhearts, we laughed a lot, we were the best of friends
But something went wrong, she said so long, let’s not pretend
And left me for a pink sunrise, palm trees and golden sand

Well, I drank a bit, stayed out late a night or two
But I really loved that woman, and just between me and you
I was thinking about maybe a little golden band
Not a postcard with a pink sunrise, palm trees and golden sand

A pink sunrise, palm trees and golden sand
I let that girl slip right through my hand
I got winter snow, ice and sleet and howling wind
And a postcard with a pink sunrise, palm trees and golden sand
